Counselling sessions are usually weekly, on the same day, at the same time, and last 50 minutes.
You aren't committed to any minimum number of sessions - you can end whenever you want, but as long as I am reserving a weekly slot for you, I do charge if you have to miss a session for any reason (including holidays).
Usually we would discuss and plan an ending, when appropriate, with time to work towards it.
I provide a secure, comfortable space for the counselling, and all issues are kept confidential, except if it emerges that there is a serious risk to you or another person, or where I am compelled by law. In such rare circumstances I will always prefer to discuss any concerns and actions with you beforehand.
I won't provide reports or letters about your counselling to anyone.
As required by BACP, I have my work supervised by a senior colleague to maintain appropriate standards of practice, and all material discussed in this supervision is kept confidential between us. (See 'Good practice' below)
I currently charge £50 per session for individuals and £60 for couples.
Fees are payable at the end of each session, by cash or bank transfer.
Drugs and alcohol
If you appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, I am likely to refuse to see you on that occasion.
I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and its complaints procedure. (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)
